Dear SOAP Members, 

It is a New Year and SOAP continues to charge forward to advance the care of pregnant persons everywhere.   As you will see in this edition of SOAP STATs, we continue to grow our community and engage our members.  

Some new endeavors planned for the Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon this spring include a session on May 3rd where SOAP Committee Chairs and Board Members will hold sessions on how to get more involved and become a leader and advocate in the SOAP organization.   In addition, I look forward to seeing you at the “Party with a Purpose” Fundraising event, which will be held off-site at the Annual Meeting.   Please purchase your ticket to this not-to-be-missed social and networking extravaganza when you register for the SOAP meeting.

BOARD STATS 
  • To date, there are 51 SOAP State Representatives, and we continue to work towards securing a representative from each state.  SOAP State Representatives will provide a key contact in each state to help us reach a broader audience, as SOAP strives to meet its mission to provide safe and equitable care for women and newborns everywhere. If you know someone who is interested in becoming a SOAP State Representative, please contact SOAP HQ.  
COMMITTEE STATS 

Annual Meeting and Live Events Committee 

  • The 2025 Annual Meeting will be held April 30 – May 4, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.
    • Registration Open!
    • 2025 Annual Meeting Virtual Highlights will be held June 9 & 10, 2025.
    • 2025 Annual Meeting theme: Leveraging Technology for Better Outcomes: Improving Lives of Patients & Clinicians
    • Call for abstracts has closed. They are currently under review.
    • Check out the new events to be held at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting!

Education Committee

  • Teacher of the Year nominations closed. The recipients of the award will be announced at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting.
  • Fellows Webinar Q&A, hosted by Dr. Emily Naoum, was held Wednesday, January 8 at 3pm EST.
  • COPUS Webinar was held Wednesday, January 15 at 5pm EST. Hosted by Dr. Naida Cole and Dr. Chad Dean, featuring Dr. Shayna Levine and Dr. Jacob Neib, Cardiac Point of Care Ultrasound in the Management of a Parturient with a Thymoma.

Diversity Committee 

  • Diversity & Inclusivity Award nominations closed. The recipient of the award will be announced at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting.
  • Diversity & Inclusivity Mentored Grant applications are open. Deadline to apply: March 20, 2025

Governance Committee 

  • Board Nominations for 2025-26 closed February 11
    • Nominations are self-nominate only.
  • Fred Hehre Lecturer for the 2025 Annual Meeting is Medge Owen
  • 2026 Ostheimer Lecturer is David Monks
  • NEW Event at 2025AM “Power of Participation: SOAP Committee Showcase”, Sat., May 3. Stop by from 2:55pm – 3:50pm to learn more about SOAP Committees and how to get involved.

Intersociety Committee  

  • The SOAP Speaks! database has launched! 17 access forms have been completed and 25 speakers have applied to date. View the database to access vetted SOAP members who are enthusiastic to share their expertise and passion on a variety of topics.
  • COE Applications for the 2024 cohort closed October 15. The COE Subcommittee is reviewing applications.
    • Informational webinar is posted on the COE Website

Member Value Committee 

  • Mentoring Excellence Award nominations have closed. Nominations are currently being reviewed. The recipient of the award will be announced at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting.

Research Committee  

  • SOAP Abstract Reviewer Interest Form closed Dec. 3
  • Journal Club Classic was held Dec. 11 @ 3pm Eastern. Hosted by Dr. Naida Cole & Dr. Leziga Obiyo ft. Dr. John Sullivan: Effect of Intrathecal Bupivacaine Dose on the Success of External Cephalic Version for Breech Presentation: A Prospective, Randomized, Blinded Clinical Trial.
