Dear SOAP Members, 

Spring is approaching and SOAP is actively planning for the Annual Meeting in Portland this April-May.   We have several NEW AND EXCITING opportunities for networking and socializing.  

This year, we have our first Annual Friday Night Fundraiser “Party with a Purpose”.   This event benefits our endowment fund and features a local artist, food, drinks and auction items.   Join the community for a memorable evening of community in a local Portland setting.  Register for the event when you register for the meeting.   

In addition, be sure to read the program carefully and attend sessions scheduled to recognize our members and create opportunities for SOAP members to meet the leadership and get more involved in the organization.   From Medical Students to Seasoned Faculty, we want you to be involved in our organization.  There is something for everyone in Portland this Spring.   We look forward to seeing you there!

BOARD STATS 
  • To date, there are 51 SOAP State Representatives, and we continue to work towards securing a representative from each state.  SOAP State Representatives will provide a key contact in each state to help us reach a broader audience, as SOAP strives to meet its mission to provide safe and equitable care for women and newborns everywhere. If you know someone who is interested in becoming a SOAP State Representative, please contact SOAP HQ.  
COMMITTEE STATS 

Annual Meeting and Live Events Committee 

  • The 2025 Annual Meeting will be held April 30 – May 4, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.
    • Registration Open!
    • 2025 Annual Meeting Virtual Highlights will be held June 9 & 10, 2025.
    • 2025 Annual Meeting theme: Leveraging Technology for Better Outcomes: Improving Lives of Patients & Clinicians
    • Call for abstracts has closed. They are currently under review.
    • Check out the new events to be held at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting
  • NEW Event at 2025AM “Power of Participation: SOAP Committee Showcase”, Sat., May 3. Stop by from 2:55pm – 3:50pm to learn more about SOAP Committees and how to get involved.
  • NEW EVENT: Paint Portland “Party with a Purpose” Fundraising Event at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting. Be sure to purchase your ticket to help support the SOAP Endowment Fund.  

Education Committee

  • Teacher of the Year nominations closed. The recipients of the award will be announced at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting
  • Fellows Webinar was held Wednesday, February 12 at 3pm EST. Hosted by Dr. Emily Naoum featuring Dr. Jaime Daly “Understanding Trauma: The Effect on our Patients and Us.”

Diversity Committee 

  • Diversity & Inclusivity Award nominations closed. The recipient of the award will be announced at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting.
  • Diversity & Inclusivity Mentored Grant applications are open. Deadline to apply: March 20, 2025

Governance Committee 

  • Board Nominations for 2025-26 closed February 11
  • Fred Hehre Lecturer for the 2025 Annual Meeting is Medge Owen
  • 2026 Ostheimer Lecturer is David Monks

Intersociety Committee  

  • SOAP/Kybele International Outreach Grant Applications are now open! Deadline: April 8
  • The SOAP Speaks! database has launched! 17 access forms have been completed and 25 speakers have applied to date. View the database to access vetted SOAP members who are enthusiastic to share their expertise and passion on a variety of topics.

Member Value Committee 

  • Mentoring Excellence Award nominations have closed. Nominations are currently being reviewed. The recipient of the award will be announced at the 2025 SOAP Annual Meeting.
  • Join one of the fifteen Special Interest Groups. To see a full list of the Special Interest Groups visit the SOAP website. 

Research Committee  

  • Call for Proposals for the Research Network Symposium closed February 14. The proposals are under review.
Finance Committee 
  • Combined net assets for SOAP and the SOAP Endowment were $6M as of September 30, 2024. 
  • Donate items for the online auction for ‘Party with a Purpose” through March 21. The online auction is open to everyone and will launch March 28-April 14.

SOAP Headquarters 

  • Log into the SOAP Community! We’re happy to invite you to join the NEW official SOAP online community platform at TradeWing! The new platform has many of the features members requested.
